The Women Behind the Music

There is something so glamorous about women who marry rock gods. They are always beautiful but seem to have that something extra. These four are my faves, whose looks I love to emulate. It seems it's all about big hair, dark lined eyes and light lips.

Left: Edie Sedgwick
There's not much to say about Edie that most girls dont already know, tragic, a factory girl, a legend and beautiful.

(Below) Bebe Buell is a bad ass and mom to Liv Tyler. She was a model, a playmate and made a new reord called "Hard Love" at age 58.

(Below) Jerry Hall left Bryan Ferry of Roxy Music for Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones. These are things you cannot make up.

Mood Board for May and June

I am not a fan of Pintrest or meme's but today, this week, this month, I've been in need of visual stimulation. I've needed beauty to look at. It's a nice distraction for yourself when you find the people and things in your life seem ugly and you need pretty STAT.

It's only in hindsight I can really learn from the past. If i had only known. If only. Maybe I'd have kept more friends, my dog, some part of my past. I've lost everything is some aspects. Breaking up shouldn't be a war zone where people make sideline comments and can step back and forth over the line. You shouldn't be extorted for money to see your own dog and never get to see said dog. You shouldn't HAVE to break up countless times only to have it fall on deaf ears.

When your miserable, leave. Leave fast and don't look back. Don't try and fail because you feel guilty. Don't bother telling friends who might sympathize at the time and then take the opposite side. The longer it takes, the longer the aftermath will be. It took me years to leave. To get the voices of everyone else out of my ears and listen to myself, my own voice. To keep true to that voice when everyone else around me had a different opinion and judged.

Of course said person will call your parents and siblings to bad mouth you're character after they can't get anymore more money out of you. Soon they move on to friends with tidbits of information you've shared with them over the years, to stretch it into lies from truth. To spread the destruction. Threatening calls to my work phones, to my cell phone.

In the end, after its all over you start to pick up what you have left. A small handful of people, photos of your dog and truth. Truth of the people you had around you, who you are and what you will never, ever go back to being.

Elie Saab Disney Photography (and mine)

No matter how old I get, there is always something magical about Disney, having a niece makes it new all over again!
Maybe it's because I never went to Disney (that I remember, being 2 years old and going doesn't count) until I was in college. Orlando was only a 3 1/2 or 4 hour drive north from where I lived but I was never interested in going. I didn't go on Grad Night and I didn't go in Middle School, (we did go to Sea World and EPCOT but that isn't Disneyworld, where is their amazing castle?!). I was never sold on finding a prince, marrying at 16 like Aurora, Belle and Snow White or being a princess, (i mean aren't I already??).

It's more then just going to the park. Besides being an annual passholder when I lived in Florida, I always compete in the Disney Princess Half Marathon on my Birthday in February. I still fly down as a birthday present for myself from NYC to Orlando. I run my little heart out and spend 4 days in the park with my family. Last year I wore a shirt that said, "warrior princess." So you know, the 'princess mentality' is what you make it.

Below are some of Elie Saab's photos that capture the beauty and whimsy of the stories, the imagery and the fashion. We all want to believe in our own fairy tales, even if we are the hero, the princess, the goofy sidekick, the leader, the savor, the damsel in distress, the beauty and the witch all rolled into one. We're girls, we can be everything all at once.

(I have also included my own Disney Photos from the Disney Princess Half Marathon and visiting the parks, whateves I'm vain)
